Financial matters are intricate and personal, often requiring human interaction, especially in banking. To blend this with digital transactions, the Indian Government and Reserve Bank of India introduced Digital Banking Units. As part of the 75th independence celebration, Government of India has proposed establishing 75 DBUs in 75 districts, recognizing the importance of combining human touch with digital finance.

1. What is a Digital Banking Unit(DBU)?

A Digital Banking Unit (DBU) is a specialized division or a department within a traditional bank or a standalone digital bank, that focuses primarily on the development, execution and administration of digital banking products and services. The primary goal of a Digital Banking Unit is to leverage technology to enhance the overall banking experience for customers, streamline processes, and stay competitive in the rapidly evolving financial landscape. The Digital Banking Unit (DBU) goes beyond just technology, it features assistance counters designed to provide personalized support for individuals regarding their digital products and services of the Bank.

3. Which type of account can I open at DBU?

At a Digital Banking Unit (DBU), individuals can open Basic Savings Bank Deposit Account (BSBDA), offering a simplified and accessible avenue for banking that aligns with the unit’s commitment to user-friendly financial services.

4. What Documents to carry to open a savings account?

Aadhaar card and PAN card must be carried, accompanied by the mobile number linked with Aadhar for verification purposes.

5. How much time usually it takes to open the account?

It takes less than 10 minutes to open a BSBD account at DBU provided all the documents are carried by the customer.

6. Is it necessary to submit physical documents at digital banking unit?

At the Digital Banking Unit (DBU), there is no need to submit physical copies of documents.

7. Can I apply for a cheque book from the Digital Banking Unit (DBU)?

Yes, customers can place a cheque book request from the Digital Banking Unit (DBU). The process involves placing a request through the digital platform, specifying the number of cheque leaves needed, and confirming the delivery address. The cheque book will then be dispatched to the customer's registered address.

8. Are locker services offered by the Digital Banking Unit (DBU)?

No, Locker service is not available at DBUs.

9. What security measures are in place for digital banking transactions?

DBUs implement robust security measures, including encryption, multi-factor authentication, and secure protocols, to ensure the safety of digital transactions.

10. Are there fees associated with digital banking services at the DBU?

11. Can I apply for Loan at DBU?

Yes, there is an option to punch leads for loan application after which Bank team shall get in touch with the customer for further process. Also customers can check EMI through EMI calculator. We are offering quick processing of Car Loan and Maha Aadhar Loan for Pensioners at our DBUs.

12. If I want to avail PMSBY, PMJJBY & APY, can I apply at DBU?

You can avail PMSBY & PMJJBY through our Maha-mobile app. However, if you wish, you can also enroll under these schemes at our DBUs.

Customers can generate their account statement and obtain a soft copy of the statement.

15. Can I register nominee at DBU?

While opening an account online at the DBU, customers can register nominee online.

16. If I open my savings account at DBU, can I get my ATM card also?

Yes, ATM cards are also issued at our DBU for the accounts opened at DBUs.

17. How can I lodge a death claim at DBU?

One can use our online SUVIDHA deceased claim settlement system (https://bankofmaharashtra.in/dcss_app/main_menu.aspx) or registering death claim applications.
